Kalkidan Gezahegne won Bahrain’s first medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games after clinching silver in the Women’s 10,000 metres final.

Kalkidan ran a brilliant race to finish in a time of 29 minutes 56.18 seconds. She was right behind gold-medallist Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands, who won in 29:55.32. Letesenbet Gidey of Ethiopia, who was leading for much of the event, came third in 30:01.72.

Kalkidan’s silver medal was her first in the Olympic Games. It is also Bahrain’s fourth medal in the history of the Olympiad

Tarek Hamdi Wins 1st Medal For Saudi Arabia, Tokyo 2020 Olympics : August 07th, 2021

 Tarek Hamdi wins a silver medal in the Men’s karate competition at Tokyo Olympics.

Hamdi had endured a heartbreaking end to the final of the Men’s Karate Kumite +75kg when a penalty for dangerous play denied him a gold when he was leading 4-1 against Sajag Ganzjadeh of Iran, who departed the mat at Nippon Budokan arena on a stretcher. The match was awarded as a default 4-0 win for the Iranian.

This is Saudi Arabia’s second silver in its history after runner Hadi Sawan picked up silver in the 400m hurdles at the Sydney 2000 Games.

Abdul Rahman Al Masatfa Wins 2nd Medal For Jordan, Tokyo 2020 Olympics : August 06th, 2021

Abdul Rahman Al Masatfa has won Jordan’s second medal of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games after clinching a bronze in the 67kg Karate competition, according to the Jordan Olympic Committee News Service. 

The 25-year-old medical student won every single fight in Pool B to book a semifinal match against Turkey’s Eray Samdan, which he lost 2-0.

This is Jordan’s second medal at the current Olympics followingSaleh Al-Sharabaty’s silver in taekwondo 80kg event last week.

Man Assad Wins 1st Medal For Syria, Tokyo 2020 Olympics : August 04th, 2021

Syrian weightlifter Man Asaad on Wednesday picked up an Olympic bronze medal in the men’s plus-109-kilogram competition at the Tokyo International Forum.

The 27-year-old posted a 190 in the snatch category and followed that with a clean and jerk best of 234, for a total of 424.

Lasha Talakhadze of Georgia won gold with a new Olympic and world record 488, while silver medal winner Ali Davoudi of Iran managed a score of 441.

Soufianne el Bakkali makes history, ends Kenya’s 3000m steeplechase domination.

The last time Kenya entered the 3000m stepplechase and did not finish first was the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, 57 years ago.

He thus became the first non-Kenyan born athlete to win the gold at the Olympics or World Championships since 1987.

Mutaz Barshim high jumper claims a first ever gold medal in the track and field with victory in the men’s high jump.

The pair had a choice of a jump-off for one gold or shared medals, and they chose the latter because of their longtime friendship.

Both high jumpers were perfect until the bar was set to the Olympic-record height of 2.39 meters (7 feet, 10 inches). Each missed three times.

Sets new Olympic record with gold in 96kg men’s weightlifting final,with Keydomar Giovanni Vallenilla Sanchez winning silver and Anton Pliesnoi making the bronze .

The Qatari El-Bakh put up 177kg in the snatch before sliding into the clean and jerk and setting an Olympic record in that lift with a weight of 225kg. It was one of two Olympic records he broke on the night — along with a massive combined score of 402 that was too much for any of his competitors on the day to even approach.

Elbakh set two new Games records in Tokyo as he won Qatar’s sixth Olympic medal and second in weightlifting.

The gold medal is a first-ever Olympic title for Qatar.

Saleh Elsharabaty won the Silver medal. Fell just short of grabbing an Olympic gold for Jordan when he lost the Taekwondo men’s 80 kg final 20-9 to Maksim Khramtcov of the Russian Olympic Committee at the Makuhari Messe Hall in Tokyo.

Abdulla Al-Rashidi Wins Kuwait’s First Medal, Tokyo 2020 Olympics : July 2021

A seven time Olympian who won a bronze medal for Kuwait at the Tokyo Olympics.

It was Abdullah Al-Rashidi’s second Olympic medal but first for his country.

“I am 58 years old. I am the oldest shooter and the bronze medal is worth more than gold for me. I am very happy for this medal, but I hope for a gold medal at the next Olympics,” he told the Olympic information service at the Asaka shooting range.

In the 2016 Rio Olympics Al-Rashidi competed as an individual Athlete winning a Bronze medal.
